Sam Gobbey began performing in his early teens, and quickly focused on learning to play the guitar in order to accompany himself in more frequent gigs. During his time studying at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music, Sam has had the opportunity to work with a variety of local musicians, as well as being a member of the Southern Gospel Choir. In December 2014, he joined a small group of Hobart singers who travelled interstate as the supporting choir for Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillas, The Good, the Bad, & The Queen). Sam is often booked for weddings and other private functions, with his calm, soothing, and easy going stage presence being an excellent accompaniment to all events. He cut his teeth as a solo covers performer on the Hobart night life scene – but is now looking to draw more on his love for Jazz, hoping to one day be a lecturer at a Conservatoruim of Music, as well as working as an arranger and musician.
